Burosumab: An Effective New Approach to Hypophosphatemia Treatment

Several clinical trials have studied the effects of blocking FGF-23, a phosphatonin, in the treatment of X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH), a genetic disorder associated with inactivating mutations in the Phosphate Regulating Endopeptidase Homolog X-Linked (PHEX) gene resulting in an upregulation of FGF-23 expression and subsequent hypophosphatemia.
