2025 End-of-Year President’s Update
2025 End-of-Year AACE President’s Update

Dear AACE Community,

As 2025 comes to a close, I am honored to reflect on our accomplishments during an amazing year and on the successful completion of the 2022–2025 Strategic Plan. Our progress across education, advocacy, member engagement, and global collaboration speaks to the collective strength, commitment, and passion of our community. It has been a privilege to serve as President during such a pivotal and transformative period for AACE. While it is impossible to fully capture all that we have achieved together, I am proud to highlight several key milestones, organized within the three strategic goals that have guided our work since 2022.

Goal 1: Endocrine Care Team Leadership

AACE empowers and supports endocrinologists as leaders in optimal clinical care.

Our commitment to supporting endocrinologists as the leaders of the endocrine care team shaped every major initiative this year. The following achievements show how we advanced this goal together.

2025 Annual Meeting Recap

Our 2025 Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida was one of the most successful meetings in AACE history. We welcomed more than 2,260 attendees, including more than 700 first-time participants. The energy throughout the meeting was amazing thanks to the leadership of our Planning Committee, chaired by Dr. Cecilia Low Wang, the insightful keynote by Dr. Daniel Drucker, and the outstanding plenary presentations from Dr. Jacqueline Jonklaas, Dr. Bess Dawson Hughes, and Dr. Anne Peters. We are grateful for the support of our industry partners and the engagement of our members from around the world.

We also celebrated our 2025 AACE Awardees, the recipients of the Master of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (MACE), and the Fellows of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (FACE). Congratulations again to all members who received their designation this year!

Beginning next year, we will also celebrate our Associate of AACE (A-AACE) honorees at our Convocation Ceremony, acknowledging members of the endocrine care team and non-endocrinologist physicians who demonstrate exceptional commitment to excellence in endocrine care.

The meeting also marked a milestone as we launched our newly reimagined open-access journal, AACE Endocrinology and Diabetes. As the companion journal to Endocrine Practice, it provides clinical and translational research in endocrinology and diabetes.

aace-awards Dr. Daniel Drucker received the Kahn-Tan-Faiman Frontiers in Science and Endocrinology Award, made possible by the generosity of Dr. & Mrs. S. Sethu K. Reddy.

One of the most meaningful aspects of this year’s meeting was reconnecting with our former AACE Chapters. Advocacy provides an important pathway for AACE to remain closely connected with regional organizations as we work together to address issues impacting endocrine care. We made progress on several key AACE Advocacy priorities this year including expanding access to obesity medications, supporting CGM quality measures, and advocating for Medicare coverage and reimbursement reforms for essential endocrine services. We also launched a four-part AACE Advocacy Webinar Series, now available on-demand throughout 2026.

Certificate Programs

In 2025, we launched five new AACE Certificates, bringing our total to seven comprehensive educational programs for the entire endocrine care team. These include:

We also expanded courses in osteoporosis, obesity, diabetes, MASLD and MASH, rare endocrine diseases, and additional endocrine conditions. These programs offer high-quality, evidence-based education for all members of the endocrine care team.

Endocrine University

Endocrine University continued to set the standard for early-career endocrinology training. In 2025, we welcomed more than 290 Year 1 fellows and more than 300 Year 2 fellows. This is an all-time attendance record for the EU program. Through live sessions and a comprehensive curriculum, fellows-in-training strengthened their clinical skills, particularly in new technology, which has become essential to the practice of endocrinology. As we look to the future, AACE remains committed to equipping the next generation of endocrinologists with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Topical Interest Groups

To better connect our rapidly growing global community, we launched new Topical Interest Groups on Facebook, including the Artificial Intelligence and Clinical Endocrinology Community and the Environmental Endocrinology Community. These forums foster collaboration and exchange of insights. Next year we will expand these groups to include a Private Practice Community, offering members additional opportunities to connect, share real time perspectives, and discuss emerging trends shaping endocrine care.

Clinical Guidance Documents

AACE is committed to equipping endocrinologists and the entire endocrine care team with the tools and knowledge needed to deliver evidence-based care. I’m proud to share this year we published four new clinical guidance documents:

  • Clinical Practice Guideline on Pharmacologic Management of Adults With Dyslipidemia
  • Consensus Statement on Management of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1
  • AACE Consensus Statement: Algorithm for Management of Adults with Dyslipidemia – 2025 Update
  • AACE Consensus Statement: Algorithm for the Evaluation and Treatment of Adults With Obesity/Adiposity-Based Chronic Disease – 2025 Update

We also hosted our inaugural AACE Clinical Guidance Forum on December 10 and 11, a virtual CME program that allowed members to learn directly from the authors of our 2025 clinical guidance documents. Attendees explored evidence-based recommendations in obesity, dyslipidemia, MEN type 1, and menopause management, and gained practical insights for integrating these updates into everyday practice. All content is now available on demand throughout 2026.

Goal 2: Patient Awareness and Engagement

AACE is the trusted source for endocrine disease and care delivery information.

In 2025, we expanded our Patient Journeys and Patient Guides to provide clinically accurate, easy-to-navigate, patient-centered resources. These tools help individuals understand their endocrine conditions from diagnosis to long-term management and empower patients to play an active role in their care.

Our Patient Journeys advanced significantly this year across thyroid disease, obesity, and diabetes technology. Following the publication of our 2025 AACE Obesity Algorithm, we updated our Journey for Patients With Obesity to reflect the latest treatment recommendations and added new content to support patient self-advocacy. We also began translating our Patient Journeys into Spanish to better meet the needs of our global community.

We have also developed a patient summary of our Clinical Practice Guideline for the Pharmacologic Management of Persons With Dyslipidemia and a MASLD and MASH Patient Guide, which quickly became one of the most accessed resources in our library.

These achievements would not have been possible without the volunteer work of our medical content advisors, the engagement of our patient partner groups, and the support of our industry sponsors. We will continue to expand our patient resource library to serve as the trusted source for endocrine disease information and to raise awareness among patients and the public.

AACE’s media presence also grew significantly this year, with interviews conducted across several major outlets. Below are some media highlights, with a complete list of recent press citations available at AACE in the News.

Goal 3: Worldwide Engagement and Impact

AACE will engage and collaborate with the worldwide endocrinology and broader medical community to improve global health.

Our global impact expanded considerably in 2025. More than 28,000 health care professionals now participate in AACE programs, resources, and publications. Our fellows, residents, and students represent one of the fastest growing communities within AACE and reflect the future of our specialty. Many of our fellows this year participated in our AACE Mentorship Program, gaining the opportunity to work with experienced AACE members. I’d like to personally thank all mentors for their guidance and commitment to supporting the next generation of endocrine leaders.

International programming expanded across India, Pakistan, Latin America, the Asia–Pacific region, and the Middle East and North Africa. One of the most defining achievements of the year was our AACE Thyroid Ultrasound Hands-On Workshop in Dubai, delivered in partnership with American Hospital Dubai and held alongside our AACE MENA Conference.

As we conclude our 2022-2025 Strategic Plan, we do so with a deep sense of accomplishment and gratitude. Many of the programs and resources I’ve highlighted above are made possible through the support from our Industry Partners and specifically our Corporate AACE Partnership (CAP), a group of industry organizations that share our commitment to advancing endocrine care. Their collaboration enables us to develop new educational offerings, strengthen our clinical resources, and provide opportunities for clinicians to stay current with the latest advancements in the field. I am grateful to our CAP members for their partnership and dedication to our mission.

Looking Ahead: Our 2026–2029 Strategic Plan

The 2026 to 2029 Strategic Plan will build on our strong foundation, with new goals focused on:

  • Goal 1: Be the Professional Home for Clinical Endocrinologists & the Endocrine Care Team
  • Goal 2: Define, Advocate, & Influence Quality Endocrine Care for All
  • Goal 3: Engage the Global Endocrine Community to Advance Knowledge & Patient Health

These goals will guide us as we create new pathways for learning, strengthen AACE’s support for the endocrinologist as the leader of the endocrine care team, and develop programs that reflect the evolving needs of our members, patients, and global community. Our President Elect, Dr. Dace Trence, will share more in the new year about how our 2026 to 2029 Strategic Plan will shape the next chapter of AACE. Her leadership and vision will help us continue to innovate, collaborate, and lead the way in advancing clinical endocrinology care worldwide.

As I conclude my tenure as President, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all who have contributed to this amazing year. Thank you to Immediate Past President Dr. Susan Samson and all our AACE Past Presidents for your lasting guidance, to our AACE Officers, Board of Directors, and Trustees for your commitment to advancing our work. A special note of gratitude to the entire AACE staff, whose expertise, dedication, and passion bring our mission to life every day, and to our CEO, Mr. Johnnie White, for his exceptional leadership. I am also deeply grateful to our volunteers and members for their commitment and service. It has been an honor to serve our global AACE community.

Together, we are elevating the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve global health.

Together, We Are AACE!

Sincerely,

Scott D. Isaacs, MD, FACP, FACE
