
This comprehensive online certificate program explores the current landscape of diabetes technology, including continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), insulin pumps, and connected insulin pens. Participants will learn about key features of these technologies and review a number of case studies illustrating how the products can enhance diabetes management.
The field of diabetes management technologies is evolving rapidly, with new devices and software solutions being introduced frequently. AACE Hands-On Diabetes Technologies and Skills Certificate is designed to provide Endocrinologists and care team members with updates of technological advancements and continuous education on specialized training to stay at the forefront of diabetes care.
To earn your certificate, complete all three components within 2 years:
Component 1: In-Person
- Attend the In-Person Hands-on Skills Workshop, hosted at AACE’s Annual Meeting, consisting of a 3-hour workshop highlighting use of medical devices such as CGMs, smart pens, and insulin pumps. Registration for the 2026 Annual Meeting will open in the fall.

Component 2: Online
- Complete a series of online courses in AACE’s My Learning Center
Component 3: Online
- Complete the post-test in AACE’s My Learning Center after completing the series of online courses

At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify diabetes technology options including CGM, insulin pump, and connected pen devices.
- Interpret CGM and insulin pump reports.
- Determine how to adjust medications and recommend behavior changes based on data from CGM and insulin pump reports.
The primary target audience includes Endocrinologists and Fellows.
The secondary target audience includes Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Other Clinicians who treat endocrine conditions.
Physician Credit
The American College of Endocrinology (ACE) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The American College of Endocrinology (ACE) designates enduring activity for a maximum of 3 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nursing Credit
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 17762, for 3 contact hours.
ABIM MOC
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 3 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit. Only those who receive a passing score will be eligible for MOC credit.
