Dear AACE Community,
September brings new opportunities to connect, learn and strengthen the practice of clinical endocrinology. This month, I am pleased to reflect on highlights from August, introduce a new course designed to support endocrine practices and look ahead to upcoming engagements.
August Highlight
ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, Indianapolis, Indiana (August 15-18): The ASAE Annual Meeting brought together forward-thinking professionals to exchange ideas, learn from one another and explore new approaches to the challenges and opportunities facing associations. This year’s meeting was especially meaningful because my three-year term on the ASAE Board of Directors came to a close. It is hard to believe how quickly the time passed. It was an honor to serve alongside such talented and accomplished leaders. Together, we advanced important work for the association community. I am grateful for the relationships we built, the insights we shared and all that we accomplished together.
New Practice Management Course: We ended August by launching Practice Management: Billing and Coding, a new online course for endocrinologists, endocrine advanced practice providers and the professionals who support endocrine practice operations. This course directly advances Goal 1 of our 2026-2029 strategic plan: Be the Professional Home for Clinical Endocrinologists & the Endocrine Care Team. Through this goal, we are committed to delivering high-quality clinical and practice-based education while listening to our global endocrine community to identify and address needs in ways that can improve patient care.
Based on a recent survey of our community, we identified a need for additional education and resources focused on practice management and endocrine-specific coding and billing. Endocrinologists working in solo practices were especially likely to report challenges related to operational efficiency, administrative responsibilities and workflow management. These findings reinforced the importance of targeted education and practical resources that strengthen knowledge and competency in coding, billing and practice operations. By addressing these gaps, we can help improve practice efficiency, support financial sustainability and strengthen the delivery of patient care.
Designed specifically for endocrine practices, this course reflects the clinical complexity, longitudinal care and documentation realities of endocrinology. Through focused instruction, case studies and a downloadable coding and revenue-cycle toolkit, participants will learn how to:
- Identify strategies to improve practice management efficiency, including workflow optimization and administrative processes within endocrinology practices.
- Apply current endocrine-specific coding and billing principles to support accurate documentation, reimbursement, and compliance within clinical practice.
- Implement practical approaches to strengthen operational and financial sustainability in endocrinology practice settings through effective practice management and billing processes.

September Engagements
This month, I look forward to representing AACE at several upcoming engagements:
- AACE Regional Organizations Task Force (Sept. 15): AACE President Dace L. Trence, MD, MACE, and I will be meeting with leaders from 8 different regional organizations for our first AACE Regional Organizations Task Force. Together we will discuss shared priorities, identify opportunities to strengthen advocacy efforts, and explore how AACE can continue to support regional organizations.
- ASAE CEO Conclave, Bahamas (Sept. 17-20): This gathering will bring together association CEOs to exchange perspectives on leadership, innovation and the opportunities facing our organizations. I look forward to learning from fellow executives, sharing AACE’s experiences and bringing back new ideas that can help advance our strategic priorities.
- Western Endocrinology Association 2026 Annual Meeting, Tucson (Sept. 25-27): AACE President Dr. Trence, and I will attend the meeting to connect with WEA leaders and clinicians from across the region and hear their perspectives on the challenges affecting endocrine care. We look forward to exploring opportunities to collaborate on efforts that support clinicians and improve patient care.
- Cleveland Clinic Intensive Review of Endocrinology & Metabolism, Cleveland (Sept. 25-27): AACE is proud to partner with Cleveland Clinic again on this comprehensive program, which offers an in-depth review of contemporary endocrine practice. The program will cover diabetes, thyroid disease, adrenal and pituitary disorders, obesity, menopause, metabolic bone disease and other important topics, with a focus on emerging therapies and complex case management.
As September gets underway, I look forward to meeting with leaders from regional organizations, connecting with clinicians and association leaders at conferences and responding to the needs of the AACE Community as we work together to advance endocrine care.
