As an Attending Consultant Endocrinologist at University Hospital Galway and Professor of Medical Device Technology at University of Galway, Ireland, he embodies the mission of advancing clinical endocrinology through innovation, compassionate care, and global leadership. As founder and director of the Health Innovation via Engineering (HIVE) Lab at the University of Galway, his innovations include digital cardiovascular stents for remote monitoring, autonomous drone insulin delivery for rural populations, AI-assisted diagnostic platforms, and Ireland's first Virtual Hospital—reducing annual chronic disease inpatient costs while improving outcomes through developing digitally enabled admission avoidance clinical pathways.
