Elizabeth Bauer, MD, FACP

Dr. Bauer is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and staff endocrinologist at Naval Medical Center in San Diego (NMCSD), where she also serves as Division Head for the Endocrinology and Rheumatology clinic. Dr. Bauer has been closely engaged with AACE, serving as the fellow in-training (FIT) representative to the AACE Board of Directors for one year and serving on many AACE committees. Dr. Bauer coordinates endocrine subspecialty education and delivers over 20 lectures annually on endocrine and obesity topics. Her dedication to education has led to the development of an obesity curriculum for Internal Medicine and Family Practice Residencies at her facility, with an observed increase in diagnosis and treatment of obesity as a result in trainees who received the education. Additionally, she was selected as the DOD co-champion for the CPG workgroup updating the VA/DOD Clinical Practice Guideline for Obesity. She is an active member of several endocrine societies and obesity workgroups, including serving as Vice-Chair for the Nutrition and Obesity Disease State Network of AACE. Her notable projects include the Obesity Patient Journey and Obesity Diagnosis and Care Management Lecture series for Primary Care Providers.
