Dear AACE Community,
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Orlando for our 2025 AACE Annual Meeting, held May 15–17. It was an honor to connect with so many of you in person. I left the meeting inspired by your dedication and shared commitment to our mission, elevating the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve global health.
Our Annual Meeting brings together endocrinologists and members of the endocrine care team from around the world for state-of-the-art lectures, advanced learning experiences, and meaningful professional connections. I’d like to share some of the key highlights from our program and how they are helping to shape the future of endocrine care.
Rebuilding Connections: AACE’s Commitment to Local Collaboration
As a former president of the Georgia AACE chapter, I understand the sense of loss many of you felt when AACE and its local chapters parted ways. That’s why I am especially excited to share a major step forward: at this year’s Annual Meeting, we hosted a special gathering with leaders from our former chapters—now vibrant local endocrine organizations.
We were honored to welcome leadership from:
- Carolinas Society of Endocrinologists
- Georgia Society of Endocrinology
- Mid-Atlantic Society of Endocrinologists
- Midwest Endocrinology Society
- New England Endocrine Alliance
- Ohio River Region Society of Endocrinology
- Puerto Rican Endocrinology and Diabetes Society
- Southern Society of Endocrinologists
- Western Endocrine Association
Our meeting in Orlando was filled with productive conversations about shared advocacy priorities and exciting opportunities for future collaboration. The presence and engagement of local leaders reaffirmed how essential these relationships are to AACE’s mission. Local organizations have always been a vital pipeline for AACE leadership, and we are dedicated to strengthening these connections. I encourage all members to stay active in your local endocrine societies and to consider AACE committees and leadership roles as you advance your career. We are strongest when we work together. AACE looks forward to a future of renewed partnership and shared success with our local and regional colleagues.

Program Highlights: Endocrine Innovation & Obesity Breakthroughs
Our theme, Endocrine Innovation & Obesity Breakthroughs, featured sessions highlighting the latest clinical advances in endocrinology and obesity management, reinforcing our shared commitment to quality, access, and equity in care.
We kicked off the meeting with an amazing keynote address by Daniel Drucker, MD, FRS, FECPC, OC, an internationally renowned leader in diabetes, obesity, and gut hormone research. Dr. Drucker captivated the audience as he traced the journey of GLP-1 medications, starting from the early work on glucagon-like peptide-1 in his own laboratory to the current, rapidly expanding role in clinical medicine. Drawing on his extensive body of research, Dr. Drucker detailed how GLP-1 receptor agonists have evolved from novel diabetes treatments to powerful tools with broad therapeutic potential.
Dr. Drucker was also awarded the Kahn-Tan-Faiman Frontiers in Science and Distinction in Endocrinology Award, which was made possible by the generosity of Dr. & Mrs. Sethu Reddy, as well as the Honorary Master of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (MACE) Distinction. As we recognize his achievements with two of AACE’s highest honors, we are reminded of the profound impact an individual can have on millions of lives through science and dedication.
Our plenary lectures also offered further insights into thyroid, bone, and diabetes management:
- Hossein Gharib, MD, MACP, MACE Educational Lectureship: Dr. Jacqueline Jonklaas presented: The Bidirectional Relationship Between the Thyroid and Weight, exploring how thyroid function influences body weight and how weight changes can, in turn, affect thyroid hormone regulation.
- Kahn-Tan-Faiman Frontiers in Science and Endocrinology Plenary: Dr. Bess Dawson-Hughes presented Update: Vitamin D and Calcium for Musculoskeletal Health in Older Adults, reviewing the role of these nutrients in maintaining bone and muscle strength in aging adults.
- Alan J. Garber, MD, PhD, MACE Lectureship for the Prevention and Management of the Complications of Diabetes: Dr. Anne Peters presented: State-of-the-Art Diabetes Care – How to Get There for All of Our Patients, emphasizing real-world strategies for ensuring equitable access to diabetes technology and personalized treatment.
We also introduced our newly reimagined, open-access journal, AACE Endocrinology and Diabetes. As a companion to Endocrine Practice, this journal advances clinical and translational research with original studies, case reports, and expert reviews across the spectrum of endocrine diseases. The first issue was just published. I encourage members of our AACE community to submit their research, reviews, and case studies for publication here.
AACE Strategic Plan for 2026 and Beyond
One of the most important developments occurred during our Board Meeting on May 14, where the Board of Directors approved our new AACE Strategic Plan for 2026 and beyond. This milestone follows a comprehensive review of our mission, vision, programs, and member feedback.
Our new strategic plan is built on three foundational goals:
- Be the professional home for clinical endocrinologists and the endocrine care team
- Define, advocate, and influence quality endocrine care for all
- Engage the global endocrine community to advance knowledge and patient health
The Board of Directors also approved the revision of our DEI Committee to further embrace a culture of inclusion and belonging. At AACE we believe that access and opportunities for all make our global community stronger, and we will continue to foster a welcoming environment that encourages everyone to contribute and thrive.
In the coming months, I look forward to sharing more about our strategic plan and key initiatives as we work together to advance our mission.
Celebrating Excellence and Global Collaboration
We ended the meeting with several memorable events that celebrated the depth and diversity of our global community. The inaugural AACE Global Forum featured engaging sessions led by faculty from Mexico, Pakistan, and India, showcasing practical clinical topics in endocrinology that impact global health.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the President’s Party on Friday evening. We enjoyed a lively night of music, conversation, and stilt-walking entertainers while celebrating the strength, spirit, and camaraderie of our AACE community. We also held our annual AACE Awards Ceremony and the Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (FACE) Convocation, where we recognized members who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to our field. Once again, I’d like to congratulate our 2025 award recipients and our newest FACE members. These members represent clinical excellence in our field.
I would like to thank Dr. Cecilia Low Wang, Chair of the 2025 Annual Meeting Planning Committee, and the entire planning committee for their vision, dedication, and leadership in delivering such a successful and impactful program. Their efforts helped make this year’s Annual Meeting one of our most engaging and memorable yet.
