Dear AACE Community,
With so much underway across AACE, I want to share a few highlights from the past month and thank you for your continued dedication to advancing endocrine care. From national leadership forums to our record-breaking 35th Annual Meeting, April demonstrated what we can accomplish together through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to our mission.
April Highlights
- Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS) Spring Meeting, Alexandria, VA (April 7-10): I began the month in Alexandria, Virginia, for the CMSS Spring Meeting, which brought together the CMSS CEO Council and member society leaders for strategic dialogue and shared learning around the future of specialty medicine and the evolving needs of the associations that support it. These discussions underscore the value of partnership across specialty societies, and AACE is proud to participate in this important collaboration.
- Obesity Medicine Association Annual Conference, San Diego, CA (April 10–12): I had the opportunity to attend the Obesity Medicine Association Annual Conference and hear outstanding presentations from leaders in obesity medicine, including our AACE Immediate Past President, Scott D. Isaacs, MD, FACP, FACE, DABOM, who presented, Advances in Prediabetes and Diabetes Prevention. It was inspiring to see the impactful work being done across the field.
- ACP Internal Medicine Meeting, San Francisco, CA (April 16–18): Next, I joined our esteemed AACE President Dace L. Trence, MD, MACE, at the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting, where we had the opportunity to build new connections and reconnect with longtime colleagues. The opening keynote by Ashish K. Jha, MD, MPH offered a timely reminder about the importance of trust, a principle that remains foundational in leadership, collaboration, and patient care.

AACE 2026 Annual Meeting
AACE Annual Meeting 2026, Las Vegas, NV (April 22–24): We closed out the month with tremendous momentum at our 35th AACE Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. We reached record-breaking attendance with more than 2,700 attendees as we celebrated our 35th anniversary, bringing together endocrinologists, fellows, primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, diabetes care and education specialists, clinical pharmacists, registered dietitians, and others across the endocrine care team to learn, collaborate, and network.
A heartfelt thank you to our AACE President, Dace L. Trence, MD, MACE, our Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, Annual Meeting Chair, Rifka Schulman-Rosenbaum, MD, FACE, the entire planning committee, our keynote speaker, AACE Past President, Jeffrey I. Mechanick, MD, FACP, FACN, ECNU, MACE, our plenary speakers, session speakers, our industry partners, AACE staff, and all volunteers for helping make this milestone Annual Meeting a success. Your dedication and teamwork were instrumental in creating an outstanding experience for our community.
During our meeting, we were proud to recognize our 2026 Awards recipients including our Masters of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (MACE), new Fellows of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (FACE), and our inaugural class of Associate of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (A-AACE).
We were pleased to strengthen our relationships with regional endocrine organizations during our AACE Annual Meeting through a productive leadership meeting with Dr. Trence, where we discussed shared opportunities to advance endocrine care. We also had the pleasure of connecting at our Regional Endocrine Organization Networking Reception, and it was wonderful to see so many regions come together. In addition, we welcomed valuable engagement through society meetings with partner associations, reinforcing our collective commitment to working together on behalf of the endocrine community.
A major highlight was the recent launch of our AACE Consensus Statement: Algorithm for Management of Adults With Type 2 Diabetes – 2026 Update, which provides evidence-based visual guidance in graphic algorithms and a summary of evidence and considerations to assist health care professionals with the diagnosis and management of adults with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes in shared decision-making to improve care. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet the distinguished clinical endocrinologists who authored the Consensus Statement.
Access to session recordings will be available on-demand to registered attendees beginning June 1, 2026 on our event platform. I also encourage you to watch our playlist on YouTube for highlights from our 35th AACE Annual Meeting.
Save the date for our 2027 Annual Meeting taking place in San Diego, California, Friday, May 14 to Sunday, May 16, at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. Registration opens this fall, and I hope to see you there.
May Engagements
- AACE Strategic Roundtable on Multidisciplinary Approaches for the Management of MASLD and MASH, Atlanta, GA (May 7–8): This month, I will be attending our first in-person strategic roundtable focused on multidisciplinary approaches to early screening, management, and treatment of Metabolic-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease and Metabolic-Associated Steatohepatitis. In collaboration with patient advocacy organizations, professional societies, industry partners, and an exceptional steering committee led by AACE Immediate Past President Scott D. Isaacs, MD, FACP, FACE, we are convening stakeholders to help shape practical solutions in an area of growing clinical need. The outcomes from this roundtable will inform a peer-reviewed manuscript submitted to Endocrine Practice, extending these insights to the broader endocrine community.
Thank you for your continued engagement to advance our shared mission of elevating the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve global health.
Thank you,
Johnnie White, MBA, CAE, CMP Fellow
