Dear AACE Community,
Welcome to this month's CEO update. In this blog, I will share the latest initiatives at AACE, including membership updates, events, recent news, and advocacy efforts.
AACE Membership
Our members are the cornerstone of AACE, and we are dedicated to providing you with valuable resources and opportunities. I am excited to announce the on-demand content from our Annual Meeting 2024 is now available. Registered attendees can log in through the event platform to access up to 51 CME/CE credits as part of their registration package. If you missed the meeting, you could still benefit from all the invaluable insights and groundbreaking discoveries shared during the sessions by registering for our on-demand recordings. AACE members also receive a discounted rate. If you are not yet a member, visit aace.com/join to learn more about our membership benefits.
In addition to our on-demand offerings, we have been actively engaging with our community through key conferences. From May 18-22, we attended the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) meeting in Houston, Texas. Then, from June 25-30, we participated in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. Both meetings provided a great opportunity to raise awareness of our valuable AACE resources and education offerings to our endocrine care team community. To view all of our resources for endocrinologists, PCPs, PAs, NPs, and diabetes educators, including access to free education visit aace.com/education.
Best of AACE 2024
In line with our commitment to education and knowledge-sharing, I am also pleased to announce that on August 2-3, 2024, our AACE India team will be hosting the Best of AACE 2024 virtual event for our global community. This event, running from 8:30 AM to 11:40 AM ET (6:00-9:10 PM IST) will feature eight sessions from our Annual Meeting that are of particular interest to our Indian audience. Each one-hour session will include a 20-minute presentation by AACE faculty, followed by highlights from an Indian perspective presented by Indian faculty, and conclude with an audience Q&A.
In 2023 Best of AACE attracted 9,000 participants across two days, setting a high benchmark, and we are determined to surpass that achievement this year. This virtual event is for people in the Indian region. If you would like to learn more please contact [email protected].
AACE News
In addition to our upcoming events, I am pleased to share the latest news and media coverage from AACE.
First, I’m thrilled to announce that our 2024 Annual Meeting in New Orleans garnered extensive media coverage, showcasing our dedication to advancing endocrinology. You can now explore over 35 national press articles highlighting key insights, groundbreaking research, and innovative treatments presented during our event.
Additionally, I would like to highlight our President-Elect, Scott D. Isaacs, MD, FACP, FACE, for his media engagement over the past few months. Dr. Isaacs has provided expert commentary on various news outlets about key topics in endocrinology. This past June, he was featured in an NPR News article discussing the importance of patients communicating with their health care professional when switching to compound medications, especially given the demand for weight-loss drugs such as Wegovy. He also shared his expertise on medication options, lifestyle changes, and prevention strategies for type 2 diabetes and MASLD in an article with Everyday Health.

AACE Advocacy
As we continue to make headlines, our commitment to advocating for the endocrine community remains stronger than ever. Our unwavering dedication to our patients drives us to champion vital advocacy initiatives.
Recently, I attended the American Medical Association (AMA) Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates and supported our AACE members Dr. Jonathan Leffert and Dr. Pavan Chava who provided testimonies on important issues within endocrinology. Dr. Leffert provided a testimony supporting the Council of Public Health’s report on looking at BMI and other alternative measures for diagnosing obesity. Dr. Chava provided a testimony calling on the AMA to support efforts to have over the counter biotin supplements include a clear disclaimer on bottles that states the possibility of lab test interference. These advocacy efforts underscore our dedication to influencing public health policies for the betterment of patient care.
To get involved in our advocacy efforts and learn how to become an effective advocate for endocrine issues, register for our free virtual AACE Advocacy Training Program on October 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM EDT. This virtual event is designed to empower endocrinologists, endocrine care team members, industry professionals, and patient advocates with the knowledge, strategies, and tools needed to become effective advocates for endocrine issues. Through expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, and real-world case studies, you will gain invaluable insights into navigating the legislative process, collaborating with stakeholders, leveraging public awareness campaigns, and empowering patients in advocacy efforts. I would like to thank our sponsors, Boehringer Ingelheim, Dexcom, Lilly, and Novo Nordisk for their partnership in helping lead this new advocacy initiative.
Registration is now open, and I encourage you to participate to enhance your advocacy skills.
Thank you for your commitment to elevating the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve global health.
Together, we are AACE!
Thank you,
Johnnie White, MBA, CAE, CMP Fellow
