CEO July Highlights

Dear AACE Community,

As we begin the month of July, I’d like to reflect on the momentum we built in June and offer a preview of the meaningful engagements that lie ahead. From national policy forums to international education, we continue to advance our mission, elevating the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve global health.

Looking Back: June Highlights

In June, the AACE team and I had the opportunity to represent our community at several key meetings:

AMA Annual Meeting – Chicago, IL (June 6–11): I began the month at the American Medical Association (AMA) Annual Meeting, alongside AACE members Dr. Jonathan Leffert, our AMA Delegate, and Dr. Pavan Chava, our Alternate Delegate, who both actively contributed to advancing policy initiatives that support our community and expand access to endocrine care. Their efforts underscore AACE’s commitment to shaping national policy through collaboration and advocacy.

AANP National Conference – San Diego, CA (June 17–22): Following the AMA meeting, our team attended the AANP National Conference, where we engaged with nurse practitioners to explore how AACE resources can best support their vital role in endocrine care. As the nationwide shortage of endocrinologists continues to impact access for millions, we remain committed to empowering the entire endocrine care team with the knowledge and tools needed to meet patient needs.

ADA 85th Scientific Sessions – Chicago, IL (June 20–23): Towards the end of the month, we attended the American Diabetes Association’s 85th Scientific Sessions, where I connected with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing care for people with diabetes. As the world’s largest diabetes-focused meeting, it provided a dynamic platform for education, collaboration, and global exchange. At the AACE booth, our team engaged with attendees and shared key resources to support diabetes care, including our certificate programs, patient journeys, and opportunities to get involved in our global community.

July Engagements

Looking ahead, this month will be filled with meaningful engagements and opportunities to learn, share, and connect with our global community.

Mayo Clinic Member Interviews – Jacksonville, FL (July 7): At AACE, our strength lies in listening to our members and understanding how we can better support you and your patients. That’s why engaging with our community has remained a key priority for me. Over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with many of you, both virtually and in person at your practices, to learn how AACE can make a meaningful impact in your day-to-day work.

This month, I’ll be meeting with two AACE members at Mayo Clinic:

  • Victor J. Bernet, MD, FACP, FACE: Director, Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Fellowship Program; Consultant, Division of Endocrinology; and Professor, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Dr. Bernet has been an AACE member for more than 20 years, received his FACE distinction in 1998, and was recently named an award recipient by the American Thyroid Association.
  • Sarika Rao, DO, FACE: Endocrinologist in the Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Rao has been an AACE member for nine years, received her FACE distinction in 2020, and has served on multiple AACE committees since 2019.

These conversations play a vital role in helping AACE grow and stay connected to what matters most to our members. I look forward to sharing key highlights from my visits with our community next month.

AACE All Staff Retreat – Jacksonville, FL (July 9–10): Following my member interviews, our virtual AACE team will gather for our annual staff retreat, focused on professional development and training around our upcoming strategic plan for 2026 and beyond. As a fully remote organization, this in-person gathering offers a meaningful opportunity to connect face-to-face, reflect on our achievements, strengthen team alignment, and plan for the future.

ENDO 2025 – San Francisco, CA (July 12–15): Next, I will travel to San Francisco to attend ENDO 2025, where I will connect with clinicians and industry partners to discuss the latest trends in endocrine research, innovation, and patient care. If you’re attending, be sure to stop by AACE Booth #1504 to explore our educational opportunities, patient journeys, and other resources that support your practice and improve patient care. Plus, you may get an opportunity to meet me and other AACE leaders.

ASAE Research Foundation Summit – Ellicott City, MD (July 15–16): I will then attend the ASAE Research Foundation Summit. AACE is proud to be a part of the broader association community, and I look forward to collaborating with fellow leaders on strategies that strengthen and support mission-driven organizations like ours.

Best of AACE – Hyderabad, India (August 2-3): At the end of the month, I’ll be traveling to Hyderabad, India, for our Best of AACE 2025 program, hosted by our AACE India team. The event will feature select sessions from our Annual Meeting, followed by expert commentary from Indian faculty and an interactive Q&A. I look forward to connecting with our global community and fostering collaboration across regions. This event is intended for healthcare professionals in the Indian region and qualifies as a major meeting requirement for those planning to apply for our prestigious Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (FACE®) distinction. The application period opens on September 8, 2025. To learn more about our FACE distinction, visit aace.com/face-distinction, and if you have questions about our Best of AACE event, please contact [email protected].

As we move through July, I look forward to celebrating our shared progress, strengthening partnerships, and building a stronger future for endocrine care together.

Thank you,
