Dear AACE Community,
As we enter the second half of 2026, I want to reflect on the momentum we built throughout June and share several important engagements taking place in the weeks ahead. Across scientific meetings, advocacy efforts, leadership development, and global education, AACE continues to create opportunities to advance our mission of elevating the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve global health.
June Highlights
- American Diabetes Association (ADA) Scientific Sessions, New Orleans, Louisiana (June 5–8): Last month, I attended the ADA Scientific Sessions, where I had the opportunity to connect with many of our exceptional AACE members and see them contribute as speakers, thought leaders, and clinical experts throughout the program.
I was also honored to participate in the session, “Quality Improvement Initiatives at Scale: What Have We Learned?” alongside a distinguished panel, including Nay Linn Aung, MD, Veronica Brady, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, BC-ADM, CDCES, David Walton, MD, MPH, Jeffrey Boord, MD, MPH, and session chair Roma Gianchandani, MD. It is always energizing to attend the ADA Scientific Sessions and engage with colleagues who are advancing diabetes care, clinical research, and quality improvement. - American Medical Association (AMA) Annual Meeting and House of Delegates, Chicago, Illinois (June 5–10): Next, I attended the AMA Annual Meeting and House of Delegates alongside AACE AMA Delegates Dr. Jonathan Leffert and Dr. Pavan Chava. I would also like to highlight that we now have two delegate seats. This is an outstanding accomplishment for AACE and our community. Together, we remain committed to advocating for the critical role endocrinologists play in addressing complex endocrine diseases, supporting the needs of patients, and strengthening the endocrine care team.
A recent advocacy priority is the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program. Beginning July 1, 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is operating a short-term demonstration, intended to provide eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries with access to certain GLP-1 medications for weight management. The demonstration is scheduled to run through December 31, 2027. AACE is partnering with the Obesity Care Advocacy Network (OCAN) to advocate for a long-term solution that helps ensure sustained access to GLP-1 therapies for Medicare beneficiaries beyond the 18-month demonstration period. - ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership Diversity Executive Leadership Program, Detroit, Michigan, June 11-13): I was honored to participate in the ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) in Detroit and introduce the 2026 Class of DELP Scholars. I also joined the “Leading Intentionally Through Change: Executive Perspectives and Peer Insights” panel with fellow association leaders. It was a meaningful reminder of the importance of mentorship, leadership development, and building pathways for future leaders across the association community.
- ENDO 2026, Chicago, Illinois (June 13–16): I also attended ENDO 2026, alongside AACE Immediate Past President Scott D. Isaacs, MD, FACE, FACP, who presented “MASLD Integrated Management: Lifestyle, Comorbidities, and Cardiovascular Risk.” I also had the opportunity to connect with clinicians, industry partners, and leaders across the broader endocrine community. These conversations continue to strengthen collaboration and support our shared work to advance endocrine care.
- Best of AACE India, Hyderabad, India (June 27–28): At the end of the month, AACE members Ricardo Correa, MD, Antonio Bianco, MD, PhD, Karel Pacak, MD, PhD, DSc, Michael Irwig, MD, and I joined leading experts from across India to share key sessions and updates from the AACE Annual Meeting. Best of AACE India provided an opportunity to extend the reach of AACE education, support global collaboration, and engage with clinicians who share our commitment to advancing endocrine health. The program reflected the strength of our global endocrine community and our shared commitment to improving care for patients around the world.

July Engagements
- AACE All Staff Retreat, Jacksonville, Florida (July 8–9): We will begin the month with our AACE All Staff Retreat in Jacksonville, Florida. As a fully remote organization, this in-person gathering provides an opportunity for our team to connect face-to-face, reflect on our achievements, and strengthen alignment around our Strategic Plan. The retreat will focus on professional development, organizational priorities, 2027 budget planning, and new programs that support endocrinologists and the endocrine care team. I look forward to spending this time with our staff as we continue building on the strong foundation we have created together.
- FIDOL 2026 International Forum on Diabetes, Obesity, and Lipids, Mexico City, Mexico (Best of AACE LATAM), (July 23–25): Later this month, AACE is proud to partner with the Mexican Society of Nutrition and Endocrinology (SMNE) for FIDOL 2026, a multidisciplinary academic forum focused on the comprehensive management of metabolic diseases. The three-day program will feature clinical experts from across the region, including three AACE members who will present the latest clinical guidance documents in endocrinology and metabolic diseases: Dr. Timothy Garvey - AACE Obesity Algorithm, Dr. Shailendra Patel - AACE Dyslipidemia Algorithm, and Dr. Priyathama Vellanki -AACE Type 2 Diabetes Algorithm. I look forward to connecting with colleagues and partners throughout the region as we continue advancing endocrine innovation, education, and care.
From advocacy and leadership development to global education and collaboration, AACE continues to strengthen our collective impact and support better outcomes for patients. As we move through July, I am grateful for the dedication of our members, volunteers, partners, and staff, and I look forward to the progress we will continue to make together.
Thank you,
