Call for Associate Editor Candidates

We are seeking candidates for an Associate Editor role for our new Gold Open Access journal (formerly AACE Clinical Case Reports), to be launched in Spring 2025. The journal is published bi-monthly and provides clinically relevant original research, reviews, case reports, visual and video vignettes that emphasize the scientific soundness of endocrinology research. We aim to broaden our editorial team with respected professionals who bring significant expertise and an expansive network in endocrinology.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and/or coordinate the review of papers submitted for publication in the Journal.
  • Oversee interaction between authors and reviewers; evaluate peer reviewer comments, including but not limited to, any warranted revisions, review revised manuscripts to ensure all outstanding issues are addressed and submit to Editor-in-Chief any recommendations to reject, approve or revise the material.
  • Assess the manuscript, ensure quality, validity (i.e., statistician work, etc.) and ethical standards have been met.
  • Review all disclosures of potential conflicts of interest made by reviewers to determine whether there is any potential for bias.
  • Conduct activities in accordance with generally accepted industry standards for integrity and objectivity and with the Policies (i.e., COPE Policies, ICMJE Recommendations).
  • Attend scheduled editorial board meetings to discuss with the Editor-in-Chief and representatives of the Publisher the progress and development of the Journal.
  • Comply with any Conflicts of Interest (COI) policies and procedures, as set, and may be periodically updated, by the Association.

Candidate Criteria

REQUIRED: Must be a member in good standing within AACE.

1. Research Expertise and Engagement with Journal

  • Strong research background and experience in evaluating scientific manuscripts.
  • Familiarity with AACE’s journals, Endocrine Practice or AACE Clinical Case Reports, either through publishing or active peer review.

2. Broad Scientific Interests and Professional Influence

  • Wide-ranging knowledge and recent publication activity across diverse fields in endocrinology and metabolism.
  • Strong professional network, recognized and respected within the research community, with an ability to engage others.

3. Commitment to Journal Promotion

  • Actively serve as an ambassador for the journal by promoting it within the community, recruiting authors to submit, and encouraging colleagues to peer review and join the editorial board.

4. Alignment with AACE’s Strategic Vision

  • Supportive of open access publishing and aligned with AACE’s values.
  • Positive standing in publishing ethics with a record free from ethical issues.

5. Editorial Experience

  • Previous experience in authorship, peer review and/or editorial roles, with a preference for those already active with AACE’s journals.
