AACE Welcomes New Leadership

Dear AACE Community,

I am pleased to welcome our new Chief Executive Officer, Johnnie White, MBA, CAE, CMP Fellow, who brings a wealth of experience and leadership to guide us into the next chapter at AACE.

As we welcome Johnnie, I would like to bid a fond farewell to our Interim CEO, Suzanne Berry, MBA, CAE. Since assuming the role on July 3, 2023, Suzanne has played a pivotal role in advancing AACE’s mission to elevate the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve global health. Suzanne’s leadership and extensive association experience, including in the Endocrinology field, have been instrumental in driving AACE's achievements during our CEO transition period. She has enabled us to continue to advance our strategic plan and further develop endocrine care teams, enhance patient awareness, and foster worldwide engagement. Under her guidance, she has ensured operational efficiency, strategic innovation, and the overall success of AACE throughout her tenure.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, Executive Leadership Team, and staff, we express our sincere appreciation to Suzanne for her leadership and extend our best wishes for her future endeavors.

"It has been an incredible journey and honor serving as Interim CEO of AACE," said Suzanne. "I am grateful for the collaborative efforts and achievements we've shared during my tenure. The commitment of our members to advancing patient care is truly inspiring, and I am honored to have been a part of it. I want to thank the staff and leadership for their commitment and dedication to AACE membership. As I step aside, I am confident that AACE is set up for even greater success under the guidance of its new CEO."

As we say our goodbyes to Suzanne, we are excited to welcome Johnnie, who brings a wealth of leadership experience in professional associations and a passion for advancing clinical endocrinology. His background experience with associations, which has involved working closely with U.S. and international endocrinologists to develop and drive educational activities and events, is invaluable and will contribute to the advancement and execution of our strategic plan.

"I am deeply honored and enthusiastic to join the AACE Community," said Johnnie. "I look forward to collaborating with the highly talented team at AACE to further enhance the strong groundwork established by Suzanne, driving excellence in achieving healthier communities through endocrine innovation, education, and care."

Johnnie brings over 30 years of results-focused association leadership experience to his new role, including successful tenures at national healthcare societies and experience working with and advocating for endocrinologists, and other endocrine care team professionals. He also serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Georgetown University and Northern Virginia Community College.

Before joining AACE, Johnnie served as CEO of the American Society of Appraisers, a multi-disciplinary international organization of professional appraisers. In that role he cultivated a global membership of 5,000 across 77 chapters, implementing innovative initiatives to drive membership, create a new appraisal certificate program, streamline governance, increase revenue, update technology infrastructure, and refresh the society’s brand. He also served as Senior Director of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, as well as Executive Director of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and as Director at the Endocrine Society.

Johnnie received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland. A sought-after speaker and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) champion, he serves on the Board of the American Society of Association Executives, is the past Chairman of the Board of the Professional Convention Management Association and has received numerous awards and recognitions for his association work.

Please join me in extending a warm and heartfelt welcome to Johnnie as he becomes an integral part of our AACE Community!
