An Introduction to the 2025 Bone and Parathyroid Disease State Network

The Bone and Parathyroid Disease State Network (DSN) is composed of a group of clinicians who have expertise in disorders of bone and mineral metabolism, but we would really like to encourage participation from any provider who has interest in such disorders. We can always use the help of any AACE member looking to enhance their career, get their opinion and voice heard in several venues within AACE, as well as get valuable exposure at national and international levels within AACE. This is a great way to get to know AACE mission and goals, interact with leaders and other members in AACE, and also get some insight into serving on a major endocrine organization.

The Bone and Parathyroid DSN contributes in many ways to the broader mission of AACE: to elevate the practice of endocrinology to improve global health. Our group is the voice of AACE and front-line workers when it comes to metabolic bone disorders. We are often asked to comment and provide our expertise on urgent contemporary issues that arise within the field related to patient bone health. Essentially, we give guidance to our broader AACE Community to ensure that the best patient care in bone disease is provided. We often partner with other major national organizations in the endorsement of critical statements and guidelines in the field of bone disorders. We also recommend and contribute to major guidelines in bone disorders, such as our previous guideline on postmenopausal osteoporosis. Such guidelines are widely read and have a major impact on the care of patients globally.

The Bone and Parathyroid DSN also has a major role in education. We help with the materials available in the Bone and Parathyroid Resource Center that includes, but is not limited to, slide sets for clinician use, podcasts on various skeletal conditions, and editorials on cutting edge bone topics. We also play a key role in planning for various AACE meetings, including the bone and calcium topics presented at the AACE Annual Meeting.

The bottom line is that your involvement in our group is encouraged. This is a great way to connect with other colleagues interested in metabolic bone disease, advance your career, and develop a strong relationship with a major endocrine organization that influences patients’ care globally.

Join our AACE Bone and Parathyroid Disease State Network to contribute to the governance and content of our organization. As an expert volunteer, you could serve as physician liaisons, faculty, or program editors for AACE educational programs and authors or reviewers for AACE white papers and guidelines.
