Endorsed by AACE, and represented by Scott Isaacs, MD, FACP, FACE, the Innovations in Steatotic Liver Disease (SLD) Think-Tank was held in Barcelona, Spain on May 3-4, 2024. The SLD Think Tank was organized to generate ideas and provide insights and recommendations on SLD, including policy, economics, technology, social issues, and international insights.
The two-day intensive program combined industry, thought leaders, practitioners, and patient advocates to discuss translational science, diagnoses, prevention, treatments, and policy around metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The program emphasized key areas on research and action priorities, including bridging the diagnostics gap, addressing the socio-economic burden, actionable steps for rapidly evolving treatments for SLD, public health policy and health systems preparedness, and developing scalable paths for the many. The AACE NAFLD Guidelines were a prominent part of the SLD Think Tank. The results of the Think Tank will be summarized in a future publication.
