AACE Journals

We are pleased to announce that after months of reviewing nominations and applications, new Editors-in-Chief have been selected for both Endocrine Practice and AACE Clinical Case Reports. In addition to this new editorial leadership, we are also announcing a partnership with Elsevier to publish both journals beginning January 1, 2021, bringing improved peer-review operations, refreshed designs, and increased access for the thousands of clinical endocrine care teams that rely on the journals worldwide.

Vin Tangpricha, MD, FACE, will serve as the new Editor-in-Chief for Endocrine Practice (EP). As a member of the editorial board for EP since 2007, Dr. Tangpricha is a respected and accomplished endocrinologist thought leader who has served on numerous other committees, peer review processes, and editorial boards over the years. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed research articles, reviews, and book chapters, and he serves on several national and international committees related to his clinical and research work. He is a co-author of the Endocrine Society/AACE guidelines for gender dysphoria and gender incongruence, and previously served as president of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. Currently, Dr. Tangpricha is a Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids, and the Program Director of the Emory Endocrinology Fellowship Program.

Sina Jasim, MD, MPH, will serve as the new Editor-in-Chief for AACE Clinical Case Reports (ACCR). Dr. Jasim completed her endocrinology fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. She currently serves as a faculty member at the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. As a reviewer for ACCR since 2017 and as current chair for the AACE Thyroid Disease State Network, Dr. Jasim has served on several other national committees, task forces, and editorial review boards across her professional societies and organizations – including as a reviewer for Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Thyroid and Endocrine Practice. She serves on the AACE Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee and has had participated on the reviewing or writing committees of AACE position statements and guidelines including her participation on AACE Guidelines for management of Growth Hormone Deficiency in adults and patients transition from pediatric to adult care (2019).  She is also actively involved in the American Thyroid Association and Endocrine Society and serves on multiple committees. Her clinical and research interests involve thyroid disease, thyroid cancer and endocrine neoplasia, she had several peer-reviewed research articles, reviews, and book chapters related to her clinical and research work.

Drs. Tangpricha and Jasim will both assume their positions officially beginning January 1, 2021 – yet will begin transitioning into their respective Journal submission processes in October 2020. They both look forward to continuing the great work of our AACE publications and ensuring they meet the strategic goals of AACE. Please join us in congratulating them both on their new roles.

We’d also like to express our sincere gratitude to Derek LeRoith, MD, PhD, who has served as the Editor-in-Chief for Endocrine Practice since 2014, and also as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief for AACE Clinical Case Reports since 2015. During Dr. LeRoith’s tenure as the leader for both journals, he successfully brought them to new heights – including building a team of associate editors, expanding the editorial board to encompass more expert clinicians and broader content topics, and increasing the frequency of publication for Endocrine Practice from bi-monthly to a monthly publication. Dr. LeRoith was able to lead Endocrine Practice specifically to an even more renowned journal by increasing the impact factor from 2.58 in 2014 up to 3.86 in 2020. When not working on the journals, Dr. LeRoith is Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Diseases) and former Chief of the Hilda & J. Lester Gabrilove Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bones Diseases at Mount Sinai. Internationally known for his research in diabetes, Dr. LeRoith was the first to demonstrate the link between insulin and the insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and cancer, and is the current recipient of three NCI grants to study the relationship between cancer and type 2 diabetes. He has published over 600 original research papers, reviews and editorials and edited several books on diabetes and IGF-related topics. Please join us in congratulating Dr. LeRoith on his many accomplishments in both his career and as an Editor-in-Chief of our AACE journals. We truly wish him well as he continues his important contributions to our endocrinology community.
