Dear AACE Community,
As we transition into September, I’m excited to share key updates and new opportunities available at AACE. These include membership engagement initiatives, our prestigious FACE designation, 2025 AACE elections, the call for Annual Meeting poster abstracts, and our upcoming advocacy training program.
Membership Engagement
Last month, we had the privilege of engaging directly with endocrine care professionals at key industry events. From August 9-11, Dominique A. Uva, APRN, MSN, FNP-C, BC-ADM, AACE Endocrine Care Team Steering Committee Chair, and Sara Goldberg, AACE Community Engagement Program Manager attended the ADCES (Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists) National Conference in New Orleans, where we connected with a diverse group of PAs, NPs, and diabetes educators. These interactions offered valuable insights into the key interests of the endocrine care team, with many attendees expressing a strong commitment to advancing their practice, staying current with the latest clinical guidance documents, and delivering exceptional patient care.
To address these needs, we highlighted AACE’s Certificate Program on the Fundamentals of Diabetes Technology. This program provides an in-depth exploration of the latest advancements in diabetes technology, including continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), remote glucose monitoring, insulin pumps, and connected insulin pens. All of which can be accessed online, allowing you to take the courses at your convenience.
Additionally, our patient resources, including the AACE Patient Journey of Diabetes Technology and the AACE Vaccine Bingo cards, garnered significant interest. These resources enhance patient education while also serving as valuable tools for health care professionals to facilitate more effective communication with patients with diabetes.
Then, from August 10-13, a few of our AACE Staff and I attended the ASAE (American Society of Association Executives) Annual Meeting, in Cleveland, Ohio, where we had the opportunity to connect with leaders across the association industry. I was inspired by the meeting’s message of unity and the vision that, by combining our individual purposes, ideas, and triumphs, we can achieve anything.
I was also honored to participate as a panelist in the session "A Roadmap to Succeeding a Long-Tenured Executive Director," which provided practical tips for organizations navigating leadership transitions. As I enter my second year on the board of ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership, I’m excited to work on new and impactful initiatives in the coming year.
Distinguish Yourself with the FACE® Distinction
As we continue to support professional growth and development through events and resources, another valuable way to distinguish yourself in the field of clinical endocrinology is by earning the prestigious FACE® (Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology) designation. This distinguished honor recognizes achievement and leadership in the field, setting recipients apart as committed leaders and experts within the broader endocrinology community.
AACE members in good standing who meet the application requirements are encouraged to apply during the application period, which runs from September 3 to November 4, 2024. Benefits of earning the FACE designation include the right to use the "FACE" credential, a personalized certificate and lapel pin, recognition on the AACE website, and the honor of being celebrated during our AACE Annual Meeting Convocation Ceremony. To learn how to apply, click here.
If you held the FACE designation within the past four years (2020-2024) and haven’t renewed it yet, I strongly encourage you to regain this esteemed credential without having to reapply. Renewing your FACE designation will further distinguish you as a leader among your peers.
2025 AACE Elections
The AACE nomination process for the 2025 Officer and Board of Directors opened on August 1 and closed on August 29, 2024, allowing members to nominate themselves or other qualified candidates for leadership roles. I’m pleased to share we received an impressive number of excellent nominations, and our Nominating Committee has begun the important task of carefully reviewing each nominee to ensure we present a slate of candidates who embody the values and vision of AACE. As we move forward, I look forward to announcing the selected candidates and continuing our collective efforts to shape the future of AACE together.
In addition to these leadership roles, another valuable way to contribute to AACE is by joining one of our committees. Serving on a committee allows you to play a key role in contributing to the governance and content of our organization and ensuring we continue to make a meaningful impact in the field of endocrinology. Call for volunteers for 2025 AACE committees are open from September 3 to 25, 2024. All AACE Community members are invited to apply.

Our Annual Meeting will be held on May 15 – 17, 2025, at the Hilton Orlando in Orlando, FL. This is an invaluable opportunity for endocrinologists and the entire endocrine care team to learn, network, and showcase their work. I’m excited to announce the call for poster abstracts is now open from September 3 to December 9, 2024. Accepted abstracts will be published in a special supplement to our landmark journal, Endocrine Practice. Learn how to submit your poster abstract here.
