Drs. Tangpricha and Jasim will both assume their positions officially beginning January 1, 2021 – yet will begin transitioning into their respective Journal submission processes in October 2020.

In addition to the new leadership, both AACE journals are entering into a publishing partnership with the renowned publisher Elsevier, which will bring improved peer-review operations, refreshed designs, and increased access for the thousands of clinical endocrine care teams that rely on the journals worldwide.

“Elsevier is delighted to welcome the AACE journals, Endocrine Practice and AACE Clinical Case Reports, to our journal publishing program beginning in 2021. AACE is committed to research, education, and clinical care. Elsevier shares these commitments and looks forward to a fruitful partnership,” said Carl Schwarz. Senior Vice President Health and Medical Sciences at Elsevier.

AACE expresses sincere gratitude to Derek LeRoith, MD, PhD, who has served as the Editor-in-Chief for Endocrine Practice since 2014, and as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief for AACE Clinical Case Reports since 2015. During Dr. LeRoith’s tenure as the leader for both journals, he successfully brought them to new heights – including building a team of associate editors, expanding the editorial board to encompass more expert clinicians and broader content topics, and increasing the frequency of publication for Endocrine Practice from bi-monthly to a monthly publication. When not working on the journals, Dr. LeRoith is Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Diseases) and former Chief of the Hilda & J. Lester Gabrilove Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bones Diseases at Mount Sinai. Internationally known for his research in diabetes, Dr. LeRoith was the first to demonstrate the link between insulin and the insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and cancer, and is the current recipient of three NCI grants to study the relationship between cancer and type 2 diabetes. He has published over 600 original research papers, reviews and editorials and edited several books on diabetes and IGF-related topics. AACE congratulates Dr. LeRoith on his many accomplishments in both his career and as an Editor-in-Chief of the AACE journals, and wishes him well.
