The 2020 algorithm for management of persons with type 2 diabetes includes sections on lifestyle therapy, a complications-centric model for care of persons with overweight/obesity, prediabetes, management of hypertension and dyslipidemia (risk factors for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease), glucose control with medications, insulin therapy, and a chart summarizing the attributes of each antihyperglycemic class approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration through December 2019.
