New Chapter: A Message from AACE's Chief Executive Officer

Dear AACE Community,

I am honored to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE), an opportunity that fills me with both profound responsibility and great excitement. Returning to the field of endocrinology is truly remarkable, especially considering that I began my career in the healthcare association sector with the Endocrine Society many years ago. My initial month in this role has been enlightening and informative. I’ve had the opportunity to meet with key stakeholders that included the Executive Committee, board members, industry partners, and the broader AACE community. Furthermore, I had the chance to dedicate considerable time to one-on-one meetings with every staff member, as well as holding individual meetings with each of the past presidents. These interactions, coupled with developing a relationship with AACE President, Susan L. Samson, MD, PhD, FRCPC, FACE, have provided me with invaluable insights into our collective strengths and the exciting growth opportunities ahead.

As CEO, my priority is to build upon and execute our strategic plan, centered on three key pillars: endocrinologists and endocrine care teams, patient and public awareness, and worldwide engagement. AACE is committed to continuing to position endocrinologists as leaders while expanding our educational opportunities to equip the entire endocrine care team with the knowledge and skills needed to improve patient care. Given the widespread impact of endocrine diseases affecting millions of individuals, it is imperative we continue to establish endocrinologists as the central leaders in training the endocrine team in addition to being the leading source for education for all endocrinologists globally. Through these efforts, we are continuing to broaden our scope of educational offerings both on-demand and in-person. Upcoming initiatives include hands-on training workshops in diabetes technology and thyroid ultrasound at our Annual Meeting, as well as the development of a new AACE Certificate program to enhance the expertise of the members of the endocrine team in clinical endocrinology. I am working closely with our AACE committees and disease state network teams to ensure we remain at the forefront of the latest clinical guidelines, technologies, and research findings.

Alongside our educational programs, I am committed to reinforcing AACE’s position as the trusted source of endocrine disease information for the public and patients. Our website features a variety of reliable patient resources including comprehensive patient journeys on thyroid disease, obesity, and most recently launched, diabetes technology. I am collaborating with our clinical advisors, sponsors, and members to ensure we continue to provide patients and their caregivers with accurate, easy-to-understand information and resources about living with and managing endocrine and metabolic disorders.

AACE MENA

Looking ahead, my vision is to cultivate strategic partnerships with industry partners and organizations globally. On April 19-20, I, along with Dr. Susan Samson will attend the inaugural AACE MENA Cardiometabolic Conference in Abu Dhabi to explore the latest clinical advancements in cardiometabolic disease to improve patient care. Following this, from May 9-11, is our AACE Annual Meeting in New Orleans, which features over 105 speakers, 75+ sessions, and ample networking opportunities. Later in the year, on November 22-24, is the AACE MENA Conference in Dubai, which provides more opportunities to interact with international experts on critical topics in clinical endocrinology. I invite you to join us at these events to advance your clinical knowledge, gain CME/MOC credits, and learn from world-renowned experts.

Additionally, I will be collaborating with Dr. Samson to provide monthly updates to our members. These communications will highlight new and ongoing key initiatives, partnerships, and opportunities within our organization. If you have not yet joined AACE, I encourage you to do so to access these updates and enjoy the full benefits of membership.

I look forward to connecting with many of you at our upcoming conferences and through our ongoing initiatives. Thank you for the warm welcome and continued support as we work together to elevate the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve global health.

Together we are AACE!

Thank you,

Johnnie White, MBA, CAE, CMP Fellow
