Managing and Diagnosing Hyperthyroidism - Part 2

Thyroid disease may present with non-specific, minimal signs. The use of thyroid function tests (TFTs) is vital in guiding clinicians towards a diagnosis. This slide library discusses how to manage and treat hyperthyroidism.

Hyperthyroidism is an increase in thyroid hormone synthesis/secretion from the thyroid gland. Thyrotoxicosis refers to clinical manifestations that stem from effect of excess thyroid hormone levels on various tissues, regardless if thyroid hormone excess is secondary to hyperthyroidism or other causes. The treatment of conditions such as Graves disease and distinguishing hyperthyroidism during pregnancy are also covered. This is the second slide library in a 3-part series on managing/diagnosing hypo/hyperthyroidism and interpreting thyroid function tests.
